A bit about myself.

My name is Linda and I am qualified Personal Trainer and Advanced Instructor. I haven't always followed this career direction but this is where running and exercise changed my life. I am 40 years old, so no spring chicken! I started running about 6 years ago, mainly to loose weight. I entered myself and my partner Andy, into the Great South Run (a ten mile race) in the October mainly as something to aim for otherwise there was always an excuse not to do any exercise! At this stage I could only manage to run a couple of hundred meters at a time. We measured a course out around the streets for 5 miles and so the journey began. Within a month we were running our first mile! Soon all the walking became a slow jog. The bug had bitten us as we began to see the improvements in our weight, health and general well-being. The race day came and I was nervous that I would not be able to make it around the course but I had nothing to worry about. There were people there of all different shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness. A real community of people with the same goal, to complete the course. I ran the course in 1 hour and 52 minutes. And so it went on from there.

I have now completed several marathons and half marathons and am now in training for the first Brighton Marathon in April 2010. I am the first to admit that I am not a fast runner, but I am only in a race with myself not with other people. As I enjoyed running so much I began to look at how I could change my career to work in the fitness industry and so began studying a Personal Training Module and Advanced Instructor Course

START

“Get fit for summer”, that’s the message Linda Rusby a local fitness instructor and personal trainer is saying. Linda is offering free taster classes for both ‘Exercise to Music’ and ‘Mat Pilates’ on Wednesday the 24th of March at 9.30am and 10.30am at The Sidney Walter Centre, Sussex Road, Worthing.
“If people want to look and feel better for the Summer season then now is the time to start thinking of exercise and healthy eating. Some people need the discipline of going to regular exercise classes to help them keep fit, plus it is fun to get fit with other people” Linda states.
Exercise to Music being a popular form of aerobic movement developed to give an all over body workout in time with music, which can be good fun for all age groups.
Pilates is now one of the fastest growing methods of exercise using slow controlled flowing movements to give strength, flexibility, postural alignment and positive mental attitude. It is therefore suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes and ideal for those in rehabilitation.
